The Manchester Aquatics Centre (MAC) is a public aquatics sports facility, that was purpose built for the 2002 commonwealth games. Designed by Faulkner Brown the MACs architecture was designed so that the roof of the building resembled a wave. As well as the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the MAC has also been used for many other events including the Paralympic World Cup and training area for the 2012 London Olympic Games. Obson & Co hold the catering contract at this venue.
The Challenge
The overall aim of the project was to enable the visitors coming to the Manchester Aquatics Centre to have access to free, secure WiFi in the café and enhance the customer experience offered by Manchester Aquatics Centre. In addition to this the client wanted to be more actively engaged with it’s customers and encourage repeat visits and social media engagement.
The Solution
FreeClix were able to provide the Manchester Aquatics Centre café with public WiFi access by installing Purple WiFi, a cloud based solution that requires no software and no additional hardware. By placing free high speed WiFi in the café, it encouraged visitors to stay longer and stimulate additional spending within the centre and the café.
The Result
From the cafes perspective installing free public WiFi has increased customer satisfaction and give the café a more professional image. Additionally the public WiFi has encouraged customer loyalty through the offering of vouchers via the purple WiFi medium, giving incentive for customers to return. Finally the introduction of Purple WiFi has increased customer engagement on social media pages.
